Today Nick and I went to our first appointment at the Midwife's office, feeling both excited and nervous. I was mostly nervous that for some reason the baby wouldn't be alive, which really is silly because I FEEL pregnant all the time, but still....the anxiety. The first appointment is a lot of talking about medical history and background, peeing in a cup, and blood samples, and also an attempt to hear the baby's heartbeat. Well, we couldn't hear the baby's heartbeat. I was feeling pretty bummed because I just really wanted confirmation. It turns out one of the midwives had time to do an ultrasound though...so instead of hearing the heartbeat, we got to SEE our little baby's heart beating!!!! And see its adorable tiny feet and hands and body (and large head). It was so exciting and it felt so good to see a little human inside me with a heart beating! The nurse thinks at this point that I am about 10 weeks and 2 days and the estimated due date for now is around April 8th-10th, as we suspected. We are so thankful to God for this little life growing inside me and for the chance to see it today. And, sorry folks, there was ONLY ONE BABY inside me. No twins. :)

That's alright. There will be a lot more babies where that one came from!
ReplyDeleteso, is a baby sighting kinda like a Bigfoot sighting? like, there will be blurred and doctored up photos on the internet of your baby being sighted in the woods? I'll keep an eye out.
ReplyDeleteThis grandma is very excited about the baby anderson sighting. I think she has a cute nose. I know she could be a he, but I have 2 grandsons so I am looking for a girl. However like you Rebecca, I am really thankful for that little beating heart.
ReplyDeleteRebecca, It brought happy tears for me to hear you telling me about your first visit with the nurse & midwife especially about seeing the heart beat. I love seeing the sonogram picture of your sweet little baby. I agree with you Grammie Lois! It would be awesome to have a baby girl in the families since we both have grandsons! I too am very thankful for this little baby heartbeat.
